2020 Here come the Absolutely Fabulous Purl Girls!

I had a knitting blog back about 10 years ago, and I’ve been toying with returning to it for over a year. I talked to my knitting friends, and decided, with their support and contributions, to start it up again.

Last year, we lost one of our own. Vibrant, fun, colorful Peggie left us years before her time; we miss her, and plan to honor her creativity here and in our fiber crafts. Altogether, there are 6 of us with over 100 years of collective knitting. Don’t be fooled though, our newest member has only 4 years knitting experience. Most of us have more than 20 years of knitting though.

My goal is to post at least twice a month, and cover our finished knits, WIPs, potential projects, and knitting events we attend or create.

In February, we’re going to spend a weekend together perfecting our brioche stitch. I know “HOW” to knit brioche, but I haven’t done it in a while, and it does not flow easily off the needles like many other stitch patterns. Ms. M. has knit a Christmas sweater with brioche trim, but it was years ago. We’re working on reteaching ourselves, so we can teach the others. What will we do with this knowledge? Several of us want to knit this tank:

Here’s to 2020, and here’s to knitting.  🙂
